The Presto view panel
The view panel presents three tabs that provide different views of your project:
-
The Output Preview tab shows you how your video will appear when rendered in FCP
-
The Screen & Slides tab shows a two-up display with both the screen video track and the slide
track, making it easy to check and solve slide synchronization issues -
The Presenter tab shows the presenter video track, and allows you to adjust or manually place the
tracking boxes
Playback controls

The playback controls below the image can be used in any of the views. In left to right order, the play control buttons are:
-
play from start
-
previous frame (when not playing) / slow down (during playback)
-
play / pause
-
next frame (when not playing) / speed up (during playback)
-
play around (which pre-renders a 6 second region of video around the playhead into computer memory
for smoother playback, and then loops over that video, with a brief pause at the end of each cycle).
During playback, you can click on the timeline ruler to change the playhead position at any time. Play will continue from that point.
Presto's playback frame update rate depends a lot on the source media and computer that Presto is running on, so playback may not be smooth. However, unlike Final Cut Pro which sometimes requires rendering before playback, pre-rendering of the project is not necessary for preview. To see smoother playback around a layout transition, place the playhead at the transition point, and press the "play around" button.
